Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated his administration’s firm commitment to tackling insecurity, declaring that no part of the state will be ceded to bandits, kidnappers, or any other criminal elements threatening the safety of residents.
Speaking during the inspection of newly procured security vehicles and equipment at the Government House, the governor emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration. He noted that security is a shared responsibility and a critical foundation for sustainable development and economic growth.
Governor Ododo disclosed that following recent security engagements with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he has intensified efforts to confront criminal activities across the state, drawing renewed determination from the federal government’s support for restoring and maintaining peace.
The governor revealed that he recently visited communities affected by security challenges, particularly Iluke, to assess the situation firsthand rather than rely solely on reports. He stated that the state government has begun deploying specialized security assets, including Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other tactical equipment, to strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies.
Governor Ododo also ruled out any form of negotiation with criminal groups, stressing that his administration will not enter into agreements with bandits or kidnappers.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to reclaim every part of Kogi State from criminal elements and ensure lasting peace and security for all residents.
