Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday reaffirmed his confidence in securing a second term in office, telling a massive crowd of supporters in Osogbo that his party, Accord, would be on the ballot and victorious in the August 15 governorship election. Addressing party members, community leaders, and various interest groups at Freedom Park, the governor highlighted his administration’s achievements while unveiling a fresh agenda for another four years in office.

Addressing party leaders, members, and supporters, Adeleke described the gathering as the beginning of a “divine journey to victory.” He praised the massive turnout, saying it demonstrated the people’s unwavering support for his administration and their determination to defend democracy.

The governor assured supporters that his party, Accord, would remain on the ballot for the August 15 governorship election and expressed confidence that the people’s votes would count.

“We will not bow to dark forces,” he declared. “We remain courageous, and by the grace of God, we shall be victorious again.”
Adeleke urged supporters to leave the rally energized and committed to mobilizing voters across the state. According to him, the struggle is not merely political but a defense of democratic rights and the rule of law.
The governor also revisited the ongoing local government crisis in the state. He congratulated Osun residents on what he described as a victory in the dispute and commended elected local government officials for their patience. He insisted that democratic processes would continue to be used to reclaim council secretariats from what he termed “impostors.”

In a strongly worded statement, Adeleke called on the Commissioner of Police to withdraw protection from individuals occupying council secretariats illegally. He also accused a commercial bank and former APC council officials of diverting local government funds and demanded accountability.

The rally was further boosted by endorsements from numerous associations, groups, and defectors who pledged support for the governor’s second-term ambition. Adeleke expressed gratitude for their confidence in his leadership and promised equal opportunities for all new members joining the party.
Speaking directly to workers, pensioners, farmers, traders, religious organizations, women, youths, and students, the governor thanked them for their support, describing it as a source of strength for the campaign ahead.

Reflecting on nearly four years in office, Adeleke highlighted what he called significant achievements across key sectors. He pointed to progress in education, healthcare, water supply, infrastructure, agriculture, digital development, transparency, and debt reduction.
Among the accomplishments he listed were Osun’s improved ranking in national examinations, recognition for excellence in primary healthcare, increased access to clean water, enhanced hospital efficiency, improved fiscal transparency, and substantial reductions in debt and infrastructure deficits.

With the election approaching, Adeleke unveiled an updated five-point agenda for a second term. The priorities include improved welfare for youths, women, and workers; consolidation of infrastructure projects; expansion of agro-industrial development; affordable healthcare and education; and the creation of a more business-friendly environment to generate jobs.
The governor also used the occasion to reaffirm his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that his administration’s endorsement of the president for re-election in 2027 remains firm and unwavering.

As the speech drew to a close, Adeleke appealed to the emotions of the crowd, warning against a return to what he described as “the dark days” of the past. He urged citizens to defend their democratic rights peacefully while rejecting violence.
“This is our state, the cradle of the Yoruba nation,” he said. “By God’s grace and with the support of the people, continuity shall prevail.”
The crowd responded with loud cheers as the governor ended with a clear campaign message: Accord will be on the ballot, the people will vote, their votes will count, and victory, he believes, is within reach.
