The curtain has fallen on another thrilling Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership season, with Edo Queens emerging as champions of the 2025/26 campaign and a host of outstanding performers receiving well-deserved recognition for their contributions throughout the season.

Fresh from securing the league title after an impressive Super Six campaign, Edo Queens headlined a season that showcased the growing quality, competitiveness, and excitement of women’s football in Nigeria.

Beyond the championship celebrations, the league also honoured individuals and teams whose excellence, consistency, and professionalism stood out across the season.

Rivers Angels, hosts of the NWFL Super Six, were presented with the prestigious Fair Play Award in recognition of their exemplary conduct, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the campaign.

The race for the Golden Boot produced one of the season’s most fascinating contests, ending in a rare deadlock. Abasiofon Uwah and Atume Doosuur finished level as the league’s top scorers, with both forwards delivering outstanding performances and demonstrating remarkable consistency in front of goal. Their shared accolade reflects a season defined by attacking brilliance and competitive excellence.

In goal, Oloko Fatima enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that firmly established her among the league’s elite. Her commanding displays, crucial saves, and leadership from the back earned her the Goalkeeper of the Season award. The recognition comes on the heels of another major career milestone, as her impressive form was rewarded with a maiden call-up to the Nigerian national team.

The biggest individual honour of the season, however, went to Olukemi Adegbuyi, who was named Player of the Season following a series of exceptional performances. Adegbuyi scored 11 goals and consistently delivered when it mattered most, combining clinical finishing, creativity, and leadership to inspire her team throughout the campaign. Her influence on and off the ball made her one of the most dominant and impactful players in the league.
As Edo Queens celebrate a memorable title-winning season, the individual awards serve as a fitting tribute to the players and teams whose talent, hard work, and dedication helped make the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership one of the most exciting editions in recent history.
