Fanawopo Applauds Osun Coaches Association, Calls for Greater Investment in Football Development

The Chairman of the Osun State Football Association, Mayor Sola Fanawopo, has commended the Osun State Coaches Association for organising the 2026 Coaches Seminar, describing the initiative as a significant step towards improving football development in the state.

Fanawopo made the remarks during the second day of the three-day seminar, themed “Train the Trainers,” where he expressed delight at the impressive turnout of coaches from across Osun State.

Addressing the participants, the FA chairman praised the vital role coaches play in nurturing young football talents.

“Without you, there is nothing like football in Osun State. You are the ones who develop these young players into the stars of tomorrow,” Fanawopo said.

He assured the coaches that more capacity-building programmes would be organised to enhance coaching standards and strengthen football development across the state.

Fanawopo also commended the resource persons at the seminar, including former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Deputy Technical Director, Siji Olagunju, James Adeshina, an NIS/CAF Instructor, and Hakeem Busari, a CAF A Licensed Instructor and Flamingos Head Coach, for sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with the participants.

The Osun FA chairman further appealed to the Osun State Government to increase its support for football development, stressing that sustained investment in the sport would help discover and nurture more talents.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting coaches in the state and encouraged them to continuously seek new knowledge and modern coaching techniques to improve their effectiveness and contribute to the growth of football in Osun State.
