The Osun Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) Chapel has emerged champions of the football competition at the 2026 Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Week after recording a convincing 5–0 victory over the Correspondents Chapel in the final.

The final, held on Tuesday, October 27, at Crescendo Field No. 1, Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, saw the OSBC Chapel deliver an impressive performance to claim the title.

The football competition featured exciting encounters as participating chapels competed for honours as part of activities marking the annual NUJ Press Week.

In the first semi-final, the OSBC Chapel secured a 2–0 victory over the Broadcast Consolidated Chapel to book their place in the final.

The second semi-final between the State Information Chapel and the Correspondents Chapel ended in a goalless draw after regulation time.

However, the Correspondents Chapel edged the State Information Chapel 7–6 in a penalty shootout to advance to the final, where they faced the eventual champions.

The Correspondents Chapel, despite their spirited run to the final, could not withstand the attacking strength of the OSBC Chapel, who scored five goals without reply to seal the championship.

The Correspondents Chapel finished second, while the Broadcast Consolidated Chapel claimed third place.

The football competition was organised to promote unity, teamwork, friendship and healthy rivalry among journalists and media practitioners across Osun State.

The event formed part of the sporting activities lined up for the 2026 Osun NUJ Press Week, bringing journalists together to celebrate professional solidarity and encourage social interaction beyond the newsroom.

Omidiran Seun, Chairman of the Osun NUJ Sports Committee, signed the statement announcing the results of the competition.
