Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed confidence that the ongoing remodelling of the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos will position the state to host national and international sporting events while attracting investors to its growing sports sector.
Speaking after inspecting the project on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the governor commended the quality of work carried out so far but urged the contractors to speed up construction to ensure the facility is completed before the start of the new football season.
Mutfwang said the upgraded stadium is being developed to meet international standards and will provide athletes with a world-class venue for training and competition. He added that the project will also promote grassroots sports development, nurture young talents, and strengthen Plateau State’s reputation as a destination for major sporting events.
“The completion of this facility will position Plateau State to host both national and international sporting competitions. We are committed to ensuring that quality is not compromised, but we also expect the contractors to increase the pace of work. More hands are needed on site, especially on the pitch, and the August break should be fully utilised to minimise delays caused by the rains,” the governor said.
He noted that the remodelling of the Rwang Pam Township Stadium forms part of his administration’s broader plan to revive Plateau State’s rich sporting heritage, boost sports tourism, and create opportunities that will attract local and international investors to the state.
