The Technical Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Sports, Dr. Olusola Osetoba, has showered praises on Governor Biodun Oyebamiji for what she described as an unprecedented transformation in the sports sector, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, athlete welfare and grassroots sports advancement across Ekiti State.

Dr. Osetoba stated that the administration of Governor Oyebamiji has brought a new wave of development and renewed hope to the sporting community in the state, stressing that the achievements recorded within a short period have positioned Ekiti as one of the emerging sports hubs in Nigeria.

Speaking on the ongoing facelift of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, she noted that the iconic sports facility has now taken a modern and attractive shape under the present administration, adding that the transformation is a clear demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to reviving sports in the state.

According to her, the massive upgrade of the stadium and other sporting facilities would not only improve sporting activities within the state but also attract national and international competitions to Ekiti.
“The Oluyemi Kayode Stadium now wears a completely new look. The transformation has been massive and impressive. For many years, stakeholders have longed for this kind of intervention, and today we are witnessing a government that truly understands the importance of sports development,” she said.

Dr. Osetoba also highlighted the near completion of the ultra-modern indoor sports hall, describing the project as one of the landmark sports infrastructure developments currently ongoing in the state.
She explained that the indoor sports complex, when completed, would provide opportunities for the development of indoor games and create a conducive environment for athletes to train and compete at higher levels.

The sports administrator further commended Governor Oyebanji for consistently supporting athletes, coaches and sports administrators, noting that the administration’s policies and investments have already begun to yield positive and visible results.
She pointed to the impressive performances of Ekiti-owned football clubs on the national stage as evidence of the government’s commitment to excellence.

“For the first time, Ekiti Queens finished fourth in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, while Ekiti United also secured a third-place finish in the Nigeria National League. These are remarkable achievements that reflect the hard work, planning and support coming from the government,” she stated.
Dr. Osetoba added that athletes representing Ekiti State in various national competitions have continued to distinguish themselves with outstanding performances, bringing honour and recognition to the state.

According to her, the steady rise in the fortunes of sports in Ekiti is not accidental but a product of deliberate planning, investment and strong political will by the present administration.
She stressed that Governor Oyebanji’s passion for youth empowerment through sports has inspired renewed confidence among athletes and stakeholders, while also encouraging more young people to embrace sports as a pathway to success and self-development.

Dr. Osetoba reaffirmed that the current administration remains committed to sustaining the ongoing… momentum in sports development, expressing optimism that Ekiti State would soon become one of the leading forces in Nigerian sports.
She therefore called on athletes, coaches, sports enthusiasts and residents of the state to continue supporting the government’s vision for sports growth and talent development.
