Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reacted to the Presidency’s threat of legal action following the circulation of a doctored video allegedly containing fake audio of President Bola Tinubu.

The controversial clip, which recently went viral on social media, sparked widespread reactions online and drew condemnation from the Presidency.

Reacting to the development, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, warned that VDM would be made to face the law over the incident.
Responding in a video shared online, the self-acclaimed “online police officer” said he would not defend the allegations against him but insisted he was prepared for any legal battle that may arise from the matter.

“I will not defend the allegations. If I respond, let God punish me. I want to face that law. I will even book a flight to come earlier than I planned. I want to see what you people can do,” he said.
VDM further maintained that citizens have the constitutional right to criticise the government in a democratic setting.

“If you are pained that VDM is speaking, what option do I have other than to speak? It is my right to criticise the government when it is doing wrong. We are in a democracy,” he added.
The development has continued to generate mixed reactions across social media, with supporters and critics weighing in on the controversy surrounding the viral video and the Presidency’s response.
