The spokesperson of the university, Ademola Adesoji, has alleged that more than 20 students were directly affected during the military operation, claiming that soldiers involved in the raid assaulted both male and female students.
According to him, the institution has so far identified over 20 victims of the incident.
“We have counted and identified the affected students. The soldiers involved came from the Osogbo Army Depot and assaulted the students,” Adesoji said.
He further alleged that some female students were stripped and subjected to indecent touching during the operation.
“Some female students reported that they were stripped by the soldiers and touched indecently. Some male students were also assaulted,” he added.
Adesoji disclosed that two students sustained injuries severe enough to require medical treatment, although one of the victims had been discharged from the hospital as of Tuesday morning.
The university spokesperson also alleged that soldiers confiscated more than 60 electronic devices, including mobile phones, during the raid.
“More than 60 gadgets, including phones, were seized from the students. Five of the perpetrators were identified and brought to the campus this morning,” he stated.
He noted, however, that the identified soldiers were later returned to their military base after being presented on campus.
“But they were later taken back to the military base. The army division informed us that disciplinary action, including possible dismissal, would be taken against those involved.
“The Vice-Chancellor has already escalated the matter to the military authorities for further action. However, we cannot yet confirm the allegations of rape,” Adesoji said.
