The Osun State Football Coaches Association has commenced a three-day coaching seminar tagged “Train the Trainers”, aimed at enhancing the technical knowledge and professional capacity of football coaches across the state. The seminar, organised under the leadership of the association’s chairman, Coach Adebayo Adeshina, has brought together coaches from different parts of Osun State for intensive learning, practical sessions, and knowledge sharing.
The opening ceremony was attended by key stakeholders in the state’s football and sports sector, including the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Ademola Daini, and the Chairman of the Osun State Football Association, Mayor Sola Fanawopo. Both dignitaries commended the association for prioritising coaches’ education, describing the initiative as a vital step towards strengthening football development in Osun State.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Fanawopo applauded the impressive turnout of coaches and emphasised their indispensable role in the growth of football. He noted that quality coaching remains the foundation for producing talented players and successful teams, urging participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the seminar. Mr. Daini also praised the programme and reaffirmed the Sports Council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sports development across the state.
The seminar is being facilitated by experienced football instructors, including former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Deputy Technical Director, Siji Olagunju, James Adeshina, an NIS/CAF Instructor, and Hakeem Busari, a CAF A Licensed Instructor and Head Coach of Nigeria’s Flamingos. The resource persons are taking participants through modern coaching methodologies, tactical awareness, player development, match analysis, and other contemporary aspects of football coaching.

He said the seminar reflects the association’s dedication to continuous capacity building for coaches and its determination to raise coaching standards across Osun State.
