Technology enthusiasts, students, professionals and parents gathered at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding, Abeere, Osun State, for the 2026 edition of TEDxOsogbo, where speakers challenged participants to embrace innovation and shape the future through technology and creativity.
The event, themed “Blank Pages,” focused on inspiring people of all ages to see the future as an opportunity to create positive change. Discussions explored topics including the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI), entrepreneurship, creativity and community development.
Speaking at the event, brand designer and software entrepreneur Francis Odeyemi described the conference as a significant step for the technology ecosystem in Osogbo. He noted that creating more platforms where people can discuss technology and innovation would help accelerate growth in the state.
Odeyemi stressed the importance of developing artificial intelligence with cultural awareness, saying AI solutions should reflect the values, traditions and realities of Osun State and its communities.
One of the organisers, Jesuferanmi Ladapo, a lecturer and long-time volunteer, said TEDxOsogbo began in 2018 and that the 2026 edition marks the third event organised since its inception. According to her, the initiative was created to empower people in Osogbo and across Osun State by exposing them to ideas capable of transforming lives.
Explaining the significance of this year’s theme, Ladapo said “Blank Pages” represents the uncertainty of the future and the limitless opportunities available to those willing to create meaningful change. She added that the programme is open to people of all ages and includes TEDxKiddies, a platform designed to help children develop confidence and express their ideas.
Head of Public Relations for TEDxOsogbo 2026, Ahmad Adedimeji Amobi, said the conference encourages participants to use their talents and professions to inspire the next generation. He urged innovators to build solutions that benefit society rather than focusing solely on personal success.
Adedimeji added that the organisers are committed to strengthening the creative and technology ecosystem in Osogbo and Osun State. He highlighted innovations already emerging from the community, including locally developed digital solutions such as a banking application and technology-driven ideas in the healthcare sector.
The 2026 TEDxOsogbo attracted a diverse audience of young technology professionals, students, creatives and community leaders, reinforcing its mission of promoting innovation, knowledge sharing and collaboration as tools for sustainable development in Osun State.
