Erewunmi Adeyemi: Building More Than a Football Club in Rwanda

Twenty-four-year-old football administrator Erewunmi Omotola Adeyemi has outlined an ambitious vision for Kigali City Football Club, with the newly established side aiming to become one of Rwanda’s most professional and sustainable football institutions.

As President and Founder of the club, Adeyemi said Kigali City FC was created to go beyond football by serving as a platform for youth development, education, investment, employment and community impact.

The move would mark a significant milestone in the club’s history and make Adeyemi one of the youngest football club presidents to lead a team into Rwanda’s national league structure.

Speaking on the vision behind the project, Adeyemi said leadership is defined by purpose rather than age.

“At 24 years old, I believe that leadership is not defined by age but by vision, courage, integrity and action. Kigali City Football Club was founded to create opportunities, inspire dreams and build a lasting legacy for Kigali, Rwanda and African football. Together, we are building more than a football club—we are building history,” he said.

According to the club, its long-term strategy centres on elite player development, modern football management, youth academies, scouting, sports technology, performance analysis, commercial partnerships and sustainable business growth.

Kigali City FC also intends to use football as a vehicle for social transformation by developing young talents, creating educational and career opportunities, attracting local and international investment, supporting community initiatives and promoting Kigali and Rwanda on the global stage.

The club said it will be guided by the core values of integrity, excellence, discipline, respect, teamwork, innovation and community impact as it works towards establishing itself as a competitive force in Rwandan football.

Kigali City FC expressed confidence that support from players, fans, partners and investors will help turn its long-term vision into reality while contributing to the continued growth of football in Rwanda.
