PSG Crowned Champions Again After Penalty Shootout Victory Over Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain successfully retained their UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties following a dramatic 1-1 draw after extra time.

The Gunners made a bright start to the final and took an early lead through Kai Havertz, who raced clear on goal before calmly finishing past the PSG goalkeeper.

Mikel Arteta’s side remained compact and disciplined for much of the contest, frustrating the French champions as they searched for an equaliser.

However, PSG were handed a lifeline in the second half after Cristhian Mosquera brought down Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the penalty area. Ousmane Dembele stepped up and confidently converted the spot-kick, sending David Raya the wrong way to level proceedings.

With neither side able to find a winner in extra time, the final was decided via a penalty shootout.

Arsenal suffered heartbreak as Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes both failed to convert their penalties, allowing PSG to seal victory and successfully defend their European crown.

The triumph also sees Paris Saint-Germain become the first club to win the Champions League consecutively under the competition’s new format.
