A high-powered delegation from the Federal Government has arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. The team was dispatched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assess the security situation and coordinate efforts aimed at securing the release of the victims.
The delegation is led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, among other senior government officials.During the visit, the delegation is expected to engage with community leaders, families of the abducted pupils and teachers, security agencies, and officials of the Oyo State Government.
The fact-finding mission is aimed at obtaining firsthand information on the circumstances surrounding the incident and identifying urgent measures required to address the situation.Government sources said the visit underscores the Federal Government’s determination to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and prevent a recurrence of similar attacks. Security agencies have reportedly intensified search-and-rescue operations, while additional measures are being considered to strengthen security around schools and vulnerable communities in the area.
The arrival of the delegation has raised hopes among residents of Oriire and neighbouring communities that swift action will be taken to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers. The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and restoring public confidence as efforts continue to bring the victims home safely and enhance security across affected parts of Oyo State.
