The Professional Women Football Coach Seyi Gbadebo has taken another significant step in her coaching career after successfully completing the Advanced Coaching Course at the National Institute for Sports (NIS).
The latest qualification marks another milestone in Gbadebo’s continued professional development and reflects her commitment to improving her technical knowledge and contributing meaningfully to the growth of women’s football.
Gbadebo has built considerable experience in Nigerian women’s football, both as a former player and a coach. During her playing career, she represented several clubs, including Sunshine Queens of Akure, FCT Queens Abuja, Confluence Queens Lokoja, Pelican Stars Calabar, Nasarawa Amazons Lafia and Osun Babes of Osogbo.
She was part of the Nasarawa Amazons squad that won the Federation Cup in 2005 in Lafia. With Sunshine Queens, she helped the club finish as Federation Cup runners-up in 2014 before going on to win the competition in 2015.
Her playing career also saw her feature for Pelican Stars, where she was part of teams that recorded notable performances in the Nigerian women’s football competitions.
Since moving into coaching, Gbadebo has continued to build an impressive track record, particularly at the grassroots level. In 2019, she guided Successful Football Club, Ile-Ife, to victory in the Successful Peace Football Competition. She subsequently worked with Ajiroba FC, Ile-Ife, helping the team reach the NLO 1 Play-Off.
Gbadebo also served as Sports Coordinator for Ife East Local Government, contributing to the team’s run to the runners-up position at the 2021 Osun State Sports Festival.
Her coaching experience further includes Ojaja Football Club, where she guided the team to a second-place finish in the NLO 2 competition.
The completion of the NIS Advanced Coaching Course adds to a growing list of qualifications and professional development programmes undertaken by Gbadebo. Her coaching education began with a Basic Coaching qualification in 2019, while she has also obtained certificates from H&B Global Sports and FCAAN.
She has further completed programmes with El Roi London University, including Women in Sport Leadership and a Level 3 Diploma in Coaching Psychology, as well as training in Youth Football Clinic Coaching.
For Gbadebo, the latest NIS qualification represents another step in a journey driven by purpose, passion, continuous learning and a commitment to player development.
With her combination of playing experience, grassroots coaching exposure and expanding professional qualifications, Gbadebo continues to position herself for greater opportunities in Nigerian women’s football.
A graduate of Federal Polytechnic Ede, she has built experience covering football leagues, tournaments, and major national news events across Nigeria.
She currently serves as the Media Officer of Ase Ridyem FC, where she oversees the club’s media and communication activities, helping to strengthen its digital presence and fan engagement.
