Tinubu Urges Governors to Prioritise Security, Quality of Life Over Flyover Projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on state governors across the country to prioritise improving the quality of life of citizens and strengthening security rather than embarking on unnecessary infrastructure projects.

The President made the remarks while receiving traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, during a courtesy visit at the State House in Abuja.

Addressing the royal fathers, Tinubu appealed to the former Oyo State governor, Oba Ladoja, to use his experience to engage fellow governors on the need to focus on projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the people.

“You have governed before. You need to help us communicate with these other governors. They need to do more to enhance the quality of life of the people and support security agencies, instead of building flyovers where there is no significant traffic,” the President said.

Speaking on the security situation in the country, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to tackle terrorism and banditry, stressing that security agencies are being strengthened to improve response times.
“We refused to pay ransom because we know the geography of the forests. From eight divisions, we are now moving to 12 divisions to shorten the response time and defeat terrorism and banditry. It is very necessary, and we are doing so,” he stated.

The President assured the traditional rulers of his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country.

The delegation from Oyo State was led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and included prominent traditional rulers such as the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, Osi Olubadan, Balogun of Ibadanland, Onigbeti of Igbeti, Alajawa of Ajawa, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, and Aseyin of Iseyin.

Also present at the meeting were the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare; and Mogaji Wole Arisekola.
