Osun State’s fast-rising table tennis sensation, Musa Khadijah, has announced herself on the continental stage by helping Team Nigeria’s Under-19 Girls secure a bronze medal at the ongoing 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Accra, Ghana.
The talented teenager claimed her first-ever medal at the African Championships after Nigeria’s U-19 Girls’ Team delivered an impressive campaign before bowing out in the semi-finals to a strong Algerian side. Despite the defeat, the Nigerian team earned a well-deserved bronze medal, marking another significant milestone in Khadijah’s rapidly blossoming career.
The latest achievement comes barely weeks after the Osun-born star impressed at the 2026 Notbad Sports Arena National Invitational Top 12 Women’s Table Tennis Championship, where she also finished with a bronze medal following a remarkable semi-final appearance. Her consistent performances continue to underline her emergence as one of Nigeria’s brightest young table tennis prospects.
Having already opened her medal account at the continental championship, Khadijah now shifts her attention to the individual events, where she faces a series of challenging encounters as the Under-19 Girls’ Singles competition gets underway on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
The Osun teenager will begin her Group 3 campaign against Egypt’s Elbasoumy Habiba at 10:00 a.m., before returning to the table at 11:40 a.m. to take on Totaram K of South Africa. The two fixtures are expected to provide a stern test of her ability as she bids to progress to the knockout rounds of the singles event.
The day’s action does not end there for the Nigerian youngster. Later in the evening, Khadijah will partner fellow Nigerian Ayoola Kabirat in the Under-19 Girls’ Doubles semi-final, where the Nigerian pair will battle the formidable Egyptian combination of Yara Elbadawy and Habiba Elbasoumy at 5:00 p.m. in what promises to be one of the championship’s most anticipated matches.
