The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has officially addressed and dismissed recent allegations credited to Mr. Adamu Delhi regarding the tenure of the current NBBF Board and the upcoming transition process.
While the Federation typically refrains from engaging in public exchanges over matters firmly governed by established constitutional processes, the NBBF deemed it necessary to set the record straight to prevent baseless misinformation from taking root within the Nigerian basketball community.
No Hidden Agenda :
In a firmly worded statement, the NBBF stated unequivocally that there is absolutely no attempt or hidden agenda by its current leadership to unlawfully extend its tenure or perpetuate itself in office.
The Federation emphasized its strict adherence to the NBBF Constitution and the regulations governing the sport at both the national and international levels. Furthermore, the NBBF acknowledged its utmost respect for the authority of the world governing body, FIBA.
“Any decision, directive, or guidance relating to the administration and transition process of the Federation will be treated with the seriousness and responsibility it deserves and implemented through the appropriate institutional channels,” the NBBF clarified.
A Call for Unity and Restraint :
Consequently, the Federation labelled any suggestions that its leadership is seeking to defy legitimate directives or remain in office outside legal provisions as entirely inaccurate.
The NBBF remains fully committed to an orderly, transparent, and credible transition process. Calling for decorum, the Federation urged stakeholders to approach matters of governance with responsibility and restraint, stressing that unity and stability are crucial for the continued growth of the game in Nigeria.
The leadership of the Federation concluded by reaffirming its unwavering focus on its mandate, promising to continue acting solely in the best interest of Nigerian basketball, its athletes, and all genuine stakeholders.
