A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluomo Sunday Akere, has criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging poor management of public funds and failure to deliver on key campaign promises.
Akere made the remarks while speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council Guest Platform in Osogbo.
He said he had previously raised concerns over the companies handling the construction of the Oke-Fia and Lameco bridges, expressing doubts about the quality of the projects.
According to him, the state government has received substantial allocations from the Federal Government but has failed to utilise the funds effectively for the benefit of Osun residents.
Akere also alleged that the Adeleke administration has neglected the state’s judiciary and failed to fulfil several of its electoral promises.
Speaking on the welfare of workers, he noted that civil servants on Grade Levels 1 to 7 were not affected by the half-salary policy experienced during the state’s economic challenges.
The APC chieftain further declared that the party in Osun State is now more united than ever, adding that former governor Senator Iyiola Omisore remains one of the party’s leaders.
Highlighting the party’s plans ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, Akere said the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would prioritise transparency, accountability and good governance if elected.
He said Oyebamiji’s administration would ensure that Osogbo remains the capital of Osun State while providing improved infrastructure to the city.
Akere also stated that the APC governorship candidate plans to invest in electricity generation, empower women by appointing them to key positions in government, and strengthen security to safeguard lives and property across the state.
He urged residents of Osun State to support the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, expressing confidence that the party’s agenda would deliver greater development to the state.
