The Chairman media committee for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji governorship campaign and a former Osun State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Remi Omowaiye, has criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the construction of two flyovers in Osogbo as unnecessary and alleging that the projects were aimed at wasting public funds.
Speaking on the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Guest Platform, Omowaiye said the state’s education sector requires urgent intervention, alleging that schools are in poor condition. He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would prioritise education by recruiting qualified teachers if elected in the August 15 governorship election.
Omowaiye also outlined the APC candidate’s plans for agriculture, saying Oyebamiji’s experience in farming would be leveraged to empower farmers and boost food production across the state. He added that healthcare would receive greater attention under an APC administration.
The former commissioner further accused the Adeleke administration of neglecting tourism, sports and infrastructure, while criticising the proposed airport project in Ede, which he claimed would cost about ₦130 billion. He described the project as an “elephant project” that would place an unnecessary financial burden on the state.
According to him, the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola was transparent, adding that Oyebamiji would also run an accountable government focused on the welfare of the people.
Omowaiye said an APC government would pursue industrialisation to create jobs, revive the state’s economy and give greater attention to sports development. He also promised improved welfare for civil servants and support for market women to stimulate economic growth.
He further alleged that despite receiving substantial allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), the Adeleke administration had failed to deliver meaningful development in key sectors.
The former commissioner said the APC was committed to governing Osun State with dedication, transparency and people-oriented policies if voted into office in the forthcoming governorship election.
