The Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, has defended the administration of Ademola Adeleke, saying the governor’s performance in infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, and people-oriented policies justifies his bid for another term in office.

Speaking as a guest on the Nigeria Union of Journalists Guest Platform in Osogbo, Oyewumi described the opposition in Osun State as “mediocre,” insisting that the Adeleke administration has remained focused on delivering good governance despite political distractions.

He said the state government places the welfare of the people above every other consideration, stressing that governance should always be about improving the lives of citizens.

According to the senator, the Adeleke administration is committed to ensuring food security through sustained investment in agriculture while also expanding infrastructure across the state. He stated that the government has completed 52 road projects in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, describing the governor’s achievements as visible evidence of his performance.

Oyewumi also expressed confidence in the security architecture ahead of the August 15 governorship election, saying the state government is giving the Nigeria Police Force the benefit of the doubt to provide adequate security for residents, in line with assurances given by the Inspector-General of Police.
“The people of Osun State will decide who governs the state for the next four years,” he said, adding that he is not intimidated by political developments ahead of the election.

The lawmaker noted that Governor Adeleke has continued to perform his responsibilities regarding local government administration despite the challenges surrounding local government allocations. He added that the governor also benefits from a strong advisory council that has contributed to the administration’s success.

Highlighting his own contributions as the senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Oyewumi said he has executed road construction projects and empowerment programmes across eight local government areas in the district. He added that he has also facilitated the construction of schools to improve access to education.

He further described Governor Adeleke as a leader who listens to advice, embraces teamwork, and supports initiatives that promote development. According to him, the governor remains committed to empowering young people and creating more opportunities for them across Osun State.

Oyewumi urged residents to continue supporting the Adeleke administration, expressing confidence that the governor’s record in office would earn him the mandate of the electorate at the forthcoming governorship election.
