National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has announced that only aspirants who emerge successful in the party’s primaries will be required to pay nomination fees and complete documentation processes.

Dickson disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Tuesday, explaining that the decision was reached during a joint meeting involving the party’s National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, presidential aspirant Peter Obi, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and the party’s selection committee.

According to him, all aspirants who purchased Expression of Interest forms would be allowed to participate in the primaries across their various constituencies due to time constraints.

“Only successful candidates will report to the party secretariat for documentation and, in the process, pay for nomination forms and complete other necessary forms,” the statement read.

Dickson also revealed that teams made up of senior party officials had been deployed across the states to supervise the primaries with support from stakeholders and local party leaders. He urged the committees to ensure fairness and transparency throughout the exercise.

While describing the NDC as a youth- and women-friendly platform, the former Bayelsa governor advised party officials to pay attention to aspirants with strong electoral prospects while protecting the interests of all contestants.

He further stated that the primaries would be held on May 28 and 29, adding that direct primaries for state assembly positions would take place at constituency level, while House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential affirmations would be conducted at local government headquarters.

Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, also warned aspirants and their supporters against violence, stressing that the party maintains zero tolerance for intimidation, threats, and any form of disorderly conduct during the primaries.
