The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Osun State, Comrade Olajide Esan, has pledged to introduce reforms aimed at making the state’s economy more sustainable, empowering residents, and ensuring transparent governance if elected.
Speaking during the guest platform of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Esan said the current system in the state is unsustainable, insisting that “the foundation is faulty” and requires urgent restructuring.
He stated that his administration would focus on making the people of Osun resourceful through policies designed to promote self-reliance, adding that the current government has not done enough to empower residents.
According to him, leadership has been lacking in the nation’s political space, noting that there are many politicians but few true leaders.
Esan also promised to prioritise the welfare of senior citizens, revealing that he would dedicate his salary as governor to supporting elderly people across the state.
The AAC candidate further assured residents that his administration would be guided by transparency and accountability, stressing that he would be responsible for accounting for every fund belonging to Osun State.
As part of his proposed programmes, Esan unveiled plans to establish the Osun Child Trust Fund, the Osun Agro-Economic Initiative, and the Osun State Youth Infrastructure Fund to support child development, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
He also urged voters to reject vote buying, maintaining that credible elections are essential for good governance and sustainable development in Osun State.
