The attention of the Management of the University of Ilesa has been drawn to comments in some quarters alleging that staff employment in the University is skewed in favour of a particular region of Osun State.

The University wishes to state unequivocally that this impression is incorrect and misleading.

Appointments and recruitment in the University are guided strictly by institutional staff needs, approved establishment, academic and professional qualifications, competence, and due process. While inclusion and diversity remain essential considerations, factors such as ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation do not form part of the criteria for engagement into vacant positions.

As a state-owned institution, the University of Ilesa is committed to fairness, equity, and the representation of all parts of Osun State in line with extant government policy and the Federal Character principle.

In addition, the welfare of staff remains a top priority for Management. In response to the prevailing economic hardship, the University has introduced subsidized transport services to ease the movement of staff. The buses currently operate on the Ilesa, Osogbo, and Ile-Ife routes to convey staff to and from campus daily.

The exponential increase in population arising from the establishment of the University of Ilesa in Ilesa town has created a significant accommodation deficit within the town.

As a result, a substantial number of our staff are compelled to reside outside Ilesa town, commuting daily from Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Osu, and other neighbouring communities.

It is important to reiterate that universities are established primarily for teaching, research, and community service. The University of Ilesa remains open to all qualified Nigerians, irrespective of their political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.

To avoid misinformation and misrepresentation, members of the public are advised to seek clarification and accurate information from the Corporate Services and Information Unit of the University.
