The Kwara State Government has approved the establishment of Kwara United Queens Football Club, a major step towards promoting women’s football and expanding sporting opportunities for female athletes across the state.

The approval was granted by the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who endorsed the creation of the club as part of efforts to strengthen sports development and encourage greater participation of women in football..

Reacting to the development, Chairman of Kwara United Queens FC, AbdulRazaq Owolabi Wopa, congratulated the club’s management, technical crew, staff, players, and supporters on the successful approval. He described the establishment of the team as a significant milestone for women’s football in Kwara State and expressed confidence that it would play a key role in nurturing young talents and promoting sporting excellence.

Alhaji Owolabi also commended the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Adisa Magaji, the Commission Secretary, Haruna Tsado, as well as board members, management, and staff of the commission for their support and contributions towards securing the approval for the club.

The establishment of Kwara United Queens FC is expected to further reinforce Kwara State’s commitment to sports development while providing a platform for female footballers to showcase their talents at national and international levels. Stakeholders believe the initiative will contribute significantly to the growth of women’s football and inspire more young girls to pursue careers in the sport.
